The “augmented ensemble“ consists of instruments, whose spatial and auditive properties have been extended by specific miking and amplification.
These extensions can be operated by the musicians directly. With new compositions for augmented ensemble, Sebastian Claren, Klaus Lang, Max Marcoll, Sarah Nemtsov, Stefan Prins, and Amir Shpilman explore this broadened spectrum. They play with the simultaneity of varying auditive spaces, explore temporal structures and moving patterns by means of mobile speaker systems or create multi-layered networks, influencing each other. With these directed mikings and individually operable amplifications, as well as with specific concepts of projection and space, the augemented ensemble mosaik also develops new interpretations of selected pieces by Ann Cleare and Timothy McCormack in collaboration with the composers.
